photo by Ted Percival What is the reason you have to get a permit from the building department for your home remodel? So they can check that your project is up to code. And, coming January 1, 2011, there will be a new code in town. photo by Steve Ryan If you are preparing to apply for a building permit your architect may mention the need for a Title 24 energy report. This document is required for all additions and new homes.
photo by Joshua Hoffman Most building departments give you the option of being an owner/builder. Instead of putting a general contractor on your building permit you put yourself down as the builder. This is a great way to save money. And to potentially get into hot water.
photo by Arbre Evolution A couple of weeks ago I wrote about when you need a surveyor. This time I’ll talk about when an engineer is needed. |
